"WIN-THE-FIGHT" / About

Olympian Susan Williams defends
SavageMan title in 2009

The Foundation’s “WIN-THE-FIGHT” initiatives are designed to significantly promote melanoma awareness, “sun-safe” practice and leverage Champion-fundraising, anchored upon the theme, “WIN-THE-FIGHT against melanoma.”  Triathletes, cyclists, and all outdoor enthusiasts, often spend much time in the sun’s peak exposure, so awareness is extremely important in training, recreation or simply any outdoors activity, for everyone to understand the significance of melanoma prevention and early detection.

The success of these “WIN-THE-FIGHT” initiatives and events are measured in a multitude of positive dimensions, but primarily serve to create an enduring and memorable impression on those who share and learn from the experience, whether as an athlete, family member, sponsor, “Champion” fundraiser or donors and supporters.  True, the satisfaction of testing one’s endurance, skill or creativity, whether to achieve a personal goal to “finish” a race or to be an active or competitive spirit hoping to capture recognition , is an important part of our “WIN-THE-FIGHT” races, organized activities and fundraising campaigns…

But, success is really measured, in the countless “sun-safe” learning opportunities that take seed, the healthy lifestyles that are embraced and the lives that are saved!

“Champion” fundraisers are essential to the success in “WIN-THE-FIGHT” programs and their donor recruitment of family, friends, co-workers and employers are key to the Foundation’s success in funding melanoma awareness, education and research programs.  All partners, in the “WIN-THE-FIGHT against melanoma” campaigns, are the real heroes of the day and profound appreciation exists for your broad support, active involvement and contributions to the cause.

When we “WIN-THE-FIGHT” together, everyone wins!

The Joanna M. Nicolay Melanoma Foundation intends to expand and host numerous “WIN-THE-FIGHT” events and fundraising campaigns to ensure a multitude of, both tangible and intangible, benefits for all key stakeholders and the countless lives touched through concerted efforts to “WIN-THE-FIGHT against melanoma!
