May is Melanoma Awareness Month  
Melanoma Monday – May 2nd    

On Monday, May 2nd the Coalition for Skin Cancer Prevention will be hosting their press briefing to announce May as Melanoma Awareness month and to announce the winners of the Sun Safety Poster Content. The Joanna M. Nicolay Melanoma Foundation is co-sponsoring the press-conference and will be speaking at the event.

   

A Monday in May -  May 16th

 
   

The Joanna M. Nicolay Melanoma Foundation, the voice of melanoma prevention, detection, care and cure, will highlight the national designation of May as Melanoma Month, through its inaugural "A Monday in May" fundraising dinner on May 16 at Rudys' 2900 restaurant in Finksburg, MD. 

The evening of gourmet dining and special wine pairings will feature the internationally acclaimed culinary skills of Master Chef Rudy Speckamp to benefit melanoma research, education and awareness.

The First Lady of the State of Maryland, Kendel Ehrlich, will attend the event along other members of the medical community and honorary and advisory board members.

Mothers and Others Against Skin Cancer - April 13, 2005 

Kendel S. Ehrlich, First Lady of Maryland, Susan Allen, former First Lady of Virginia, joined forces in Annapolis, Maryland with Mothers and Others Against Skin Cancer to encourage their states' residents to educate themselves about the importance of sun safety and skin cancer prevention. Mrs. Ehrlich, Mrs. Allen and MASC also launched the "Sun Safety Challenge," a contest in which elementary school students in both states will collect MASC membership pledges to win a $1,000 prize and a portable shade structure for their school. Denise Safko from the Joanna M. Nicolay Melanoma Foundation was presented a personal story of her mother's battle through melanoma.
